March Madness & a Cover Shoot

In March I headed West for my latest photo shoot. I packed for a 4 day LA trip & mistakenly sent my winter clothes to Aspen where I would be heading post shoot. I arrived in LA to a heavy rain storm and 50 degree temperatures. For this shoot “Murphy's Law” would pay me a visit. The rain didn't let up, either did the winds and the sun failed to shine-not even for a minute. I blasted the heat in my LA home & dug through my suitcase only to find I had packed tank tops, Oh & more tank tops! I fielded calls from my PR, photographer, hair/makeup artist & the magazine all trying to find resolve to the weather. Push it back, shoot in the rain, wait to see if it blows over? Finally the shoot was postponed. I went to the gym, spray tanned, cleaned out my LA closet, & dropped off 8 garbage bags filled clothes to the good will. I had dinners & lunches with friends, all the while waiting on Mother Nature's dismal mood to end. 

Finally the sun came out. I headed with the crew to Malibu. While sitting in the limo getting hair & makeup touch ups, we heard  a knock on the door & opened it to 2 cops investigating a suspicious limo! It was cleared up quickly with a laugh. I then braved the freezing 60 degree day in tiny bikinis, trying to look sexy as goosebumps invaded my skin. And worse I immediately developed a bad case of the sniffles. Five frigid hours later we wrapped and Jack In The Box never tasted so good! The pictures from this shoot are my absolute favorite. Even with all the hiccups  along the way, the end result (photos) came out superb. Watch the behind the scenes video for all the drama!

My Russian Side in FHM

My inner Russian has finally come to life. In my lineage I have a distant grandparent who was part Russian. Yes that means in my blood runs a cold Russian assassin ready to drink vodka, eat caviar and never laugh at a joke! I also do an amazing Russian accent & have an alter ego named “Svetlana”. So FHM Russia December 2011 issue made my caviar dreams come true. I have a 6 page spread inside FHM with Russian writing all over me...

Lights, Camera, Action FHM!

In August 2011, an inconspicuous limo drove me to the back end of Zuma Beach for my FHM dual cover shoot. Upon arriving the photographer & his assistant had their reflectors set up close to the cliff. Also by the cliff was a rock-climbing club of about 8…awkward!

I walked across the hot sand with my publicist, hair/makeup team & videographer. I was told FHM didn’t pull permits for filming so just “act casual” around beach police! I changed into 5 tiny bikinis behind a reflector & definitely flashed some innocent bystanders. I did my best Zoolander look, got splashed by freezing water, awkwardly arched, squinted into the sun & had sand in all the wrong places.

After 4 hours we wrapped, 2 FHM Covers and inside spreads later the sand in all the wrong places paid off. Watch the video for all the action.

Kaki West FHM Czech Cover & the Mystery of the #3!

3rd times the Charm! This is my 3rd FHM magazine Cover, I started off with Turkey then moved onto Slovenia and now the Czech Republic. My man accuses me of settling for 3rd world domination. Soon I could be having peace talks with NATO representing tiny countries in a bikini! Back to my #3 theory. Good things, bad things, Death and blind mice all come in 3's. Victoria's Secret body products are always in a package of 3… Buy 2 get 1 free, that equals 3. So I will happily take my lucky or enigmatic #3 cover. However I will avoid 3 legged bar stools, but I will hi-five the boy that runs me over on a NYC sidewalk in a tri-cycle. All in the spirit of celebrating my 3rd FHM Cover!
