My first Mothers Day

On January 28th, 2015 at 9:02 pm I gave birth to my son West Louis and at 9:04 pm my beautiful daughter Lily Sophia. My life has forever changed for the better and I have never known this kind of  love. It took us quite sometime to become pregnant with heart breakes along the way. So now looking at my twins at the tender age of 3 and a half months makes it that much sweeter. I am a mother, guardian, teacher, friend, caregiver and the list goes on and on! It's a great responsibility, to raise two precious lives. I now sleep with one eye open, if I even sleep and my mind moves a mile a minute thinking constantly of my babies! Being a first time mother is a lot, but being a first time mother with twins is like having dessert after an amazing four course meal!

Many people offered unsolicited advice upon hearing the news of our impending twins. Their eyes would widen and they would roar "TWINS?! Oh, you are in for it, two infants crying, two car seats, two of everything. I wish you luck,wowza" Or something along those incredibly asinine words. Now as a mother of twins, my response is just the opposite. It's the best thing in the world! I finally got pregnant, I have two babies and even better a son and daughter. I am in heaven, I don't know anything other than twins. So in a way my naivety works in my favor. As a wise person told me "double the blessings double the love." There is nothing in the world sweeter than my son and daughter exchanging sweet gurgles and coos with each other.

I am more fulfilled in this chapter of my life. In my twenties I earned my degree, achieved success as a model that afforded me world travel and an independent lifestyle. Then I met my husband and we were married within a year. I was able to enjoy three years as a wife, and now my husband and I are parents together, we are a family. It feels so complete. It is a magnificent time for me as a woman, wife and now drum roll please….. Mommy!

Spring Fashion

Happy New Year! Out with old in with the New! Let Go & Let God. My 2013 was filled with love, drama, travel, family, fashion & career highs!
I want to take this moment to say Thank you to all of you lovely Blog readers for your support and or curiosity into my little world. I wish you all the very best for 2014. There is nothing as invigorating as a clean slate, a do- over. Take advantage of this new year and if you must look back, take the time to right the wrongs you may have made. The greatest part of life is that we can always start anew, strive to be better.
Forgive and forget, to forgive is to forget. It's Bull-shit to say I forgive you but I don't forget what you did. That in translation means your still holding onto all that negativity & pain.
Take 2014 to let it all wash away, delete your contacts, close the door and dead bolt it if you have too! Grow as big, bright and beautiful as God intended for you, and don't let anyone dull your shine.
Happy 2014, hold your head high and let this be your YEAR!

Truth, Lies & Mean Girls

What is it in people that makes them judgmental? Is it that their parents taught them to hate? Hate on different races, religions, classes? Are we all good with a few that are just born evil? Or are we all a products of our environmnets? Like the phrase "You can take the girl out of the trailer park, but you can't take the trailer park out of the girl". This always struck a chord in me. I never liked it. I was raised Catholic, as in Catholic guilt, turn the other cheek, repent your sins & lastly "Do unto others as you would have done unto you". I remember being the new girl in 6th & 8th grades getting my overwhelming share of hierarchy & bullying more commonly known today as "Mean Girls". The sad state of young women today committing suicide due to Facebook bullying and cyber-hell, with horrid videos to boot. 

Are we as a culture above forgiveness & sins ourselves? Are we perfection? Absolutely not! Why the witch-hunts then? I will quote another popular phrase that no one seems to abide by "Whoever gossips to you, will gossip about you". Women need to recognize this trait. We need to be the band-aid & the neospirin, to heal this epidemic, to stand up for each other, rather than tear into each other. From ages 12 to 92, cut this sh*t out! Be the bigger & better woman, rise above it, take the high road.

Cupid's Vacation

February is the international month of love! For me it's two holidays, Valentines day & my anniversary. In honor of Cupid's love month, I am sharing with you my romance travel guide. Though posting it in April, I am a bit late!
My husband & I wanted our first anniversary to be very special. Our honeymoon in the Maldives was heaven, but the travel was hell. We searched from Antigua, Bermuda to Playa del Carmen. I looked to my trusted site, Tripadvisor where I discovered glowing reviews on St Regis Punta Mita Resort. We booked 6 days away from freezing NYC & headed to paradise. 
The hotel rolled out the red carpet treatment for us the entire time. From our outgoing butler Luiz, to Xavier at the pool who had a smile and margaritas ready at all times. We had a private anniversary dinner set up on the beach, which was spectacular. We laid by the pool, walked on the beach, paddle boarded, went to the spa & took a mojito making class. The service at this hotel was amazing, the atmosphere was quiet and laid back. In a 5 star resort there were no attitudes or loud obnoxious guests or lack of privacy. Our suite was enormous with a balcony & sexy outdoor shower. If you are looking for a resort to unwind, fall in love again, be pampered & feel relaxed in flip-flops, this is it.

My Fashion Favorites

Aaaah the Starbucks red cups are back, with seasonal flavors from Pumpkin Spice to Peppermint Mocha! The stores are stocked with knee high boots & cashmere sweaters! My favorite time of the year is Fall/Winter. My love of fashion began when I was little & would drive my mother insane by wearing at least 5 different outfits a day! Not much has changed, only now it's my profession as a model to change clothes for a living. Last year I  moved to NYC with my husband & a whole new sense of self & fashion emerged. Becoming a wife is a beautiful thing, but it's also a natural style evolution into becoming a Mrs!
NYC is our nation's fashion capital & my 2nd home of Los Angeles is capital of glamour. I love fashion, the freedom of self expression & the way it enables us all. I believe fashion gives you great power to discover yourself daily.

Kaki West FHM Cover & Timing

This is my 4th FHM international cover. I have been warmly welcomed into the FHM magazine family. The international team of editors gave me 1 cover which led to another editor liking the pictures, to another editor and so forth. As a model it's been a wonderful turn of events.
However, I have to add in the factor of "luck", "fate", "karma" or in layman's terms "timing". Timing has been a phenomenon elusively told to me at auditions, bookings, bad break ups, lost jobs, first dates etc. Timing is everything or it's Your time or Right place, right time. I have never been"lucky" & for me timing never failed to disappoint. My solution to all of this has been hard work. Putting in my dues & TIME. I am of the belief rewards are from blood, sweat & tears. So I leave perfect timing to the lucky & to the persevering know Time is on your side.
