March Madness & a Cover Shoot

In March I headed West for my latest photo shoot. I packed for a 4 day LA trip & mistakenly sent my winter clothes to Aspen where I would be heading post shoot. I arrived in LA to a heavy rain storm and 50 degree temperatures. For this shoot “Murphy's Law” would pay me a visit. The rain didn't let up, either did the winds and the sun failed to shine-not even for a minute. I blasted the heat in my LA home & dug through my suitcase only to find I had packed tank tops, Oh & more tank tops! I fielded calls from my PR, photographer, hair/makeup artist & the magazine all trying to find resolve to the weather. Push it back, shoot in the rain, wait to see if it blows over? Finally the shoot was postponed. I went to the gym, spray tanned, cleaned out my LA closet, & dropped off 8 garbage bags filled clothes to the good will. I had dinners & lunches with friends, all the while waiting on Mother Nature's dismal mood to end. 

Finally the sun came out. I headed with the crew to Malibu. While sitting in the limo getting hair & makeup touch ups, we heard  a knock on the door & opened it to 2 cops investigating a suspicious limo! It was cleared up quickly with a laugh. I then braved the freezing 60 degree day in tiny bikinis, trying to look sexy as goosebumps invaded my skin. And worse I immediately developed a bad case of the sniffles. Five frigid hours later we wrapped and Jack In The Box never tasted so good! The pictures from this shoot are my absolute favorite. Even with all the hiccups  along the way, the end result (photos) came out superb. Watch the behind the scenes video for all the drama!

I just did 3 photo-shoots within 2 weeks & have been badgered with the same question, “What really goes on behind the scenes at photo shoots?” Between the hair, makeup, wardrobe, location, travel, people on set, etc... So I decided the best answer is to show you. Below is a collection of my "behind the scenes" life as a model. Check out the candid pictures of me from before I go in front of the big lens! On the Road Again

Traveling in the entertainment world is equivalent to "clocking in" for a factory worker. It's just an occupational hazard, and you embrace it because you have no choice. Shoot in Mexico, audition in NYC, location shoot in Canada, video shoot in LA. TSA screenings, Starbucks & bitter flight attendants all have become second nature to me. So I have listed my premium travel tips below with pictures.

1.) Fly 1st class, have it put in your per diem or pay the extra $, extra leg room, no hassle, personal TV, better check in lines.

2.) Favorite airlines: United/Continental for 1st class or business class from JFK to LAX or EWR to LAX. They have the most up to date planes, electronics, wifi & best staff. They are merging as one so get a frequent flyer #!

3.) Nexus Limousine Co. in Los Angeles. The best drivers & best SUV's. They are punctual, courteous & fast. Always have clean cars stocked with water & candy.

4.) My Prada black nylon roller carry on suitcase. This is the best & biggest carry on you can buy, (Trust me I searched). Its sleek & pretty yet you can cram a lot in it.

5.) My Givenchy red Tote is the classic big bag for travel. It's perfect for magazines, laptop, headphones & it has a huge shoulder strap. Buy it at Neiman Marcus.

6.) My travel beauty kit is in my Prada nylon zip makeup bag. I swear by the following products for travel: Tresemme Dry Shampoo, Purell, Tylenol, L'Occtiane lip balm, Hermes perfume, Sisley face wash, Estee Lauder eye cream, Johnson's lavender lotion & Evian spray.
